Manchester City suffered more setback in their title

Manchester City suffered more setback in their title aspirations after a 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. This was an unexpected defeat and one that raises a lot of pressure on manager Manuel Pellegrini.

City have gone from being title contenders to being top four contenders as a result of this defeat. Despite this setback, defender Bacary Sagna remains confident that the club can move to the top of the table. Chelsea have increased their advantage over City to 9 points and they also have a game in hand. Sagna, though, says that City still have a chance if they win the remaining seven matches.

One of those matches is against archrivals Manchester United and Sagna says that every one of the seven matches will be considered as a final by the players. City will feel unlucky to lose against Crystal Palace after having had excellent control of the game in terms of possession and attempts on target. The blues registered a whopping 14 shots on target along with having 74% possession. These statistics amounted to nothing after Glen Murray and Jason Puncheon gave Palace a comfortable 2-0 advantage before Yaya Touré pulled one back for City. However, they were unable to go on and find the equaliser or even the winner.

“It’s going to be seven finals from now till the end of the season. That was the first one and we lost. It is disappointing not to take any points (from the game) because we had the chances to score. We created some good chances and unfortunately we conceded some goals. To be honest we are just focusing on our team. We want to be back in shape we want to back to the way we want to play. That’s it, we just want to focus on our team and not think about other teams,” said Sagna.
